If you’re looking for a family-friendly getaway near NYC, it’s hard to beat a trip to the brick-built wonderland that is Legoland New York, and if you really want to up the ante on family fun, consider pairing your theme park visit with an overnight at the kid-centered Legoland NY Hotel.
From the moment you step in the door of the Legoland NY Hotel, it’s clear kids are in for a treat, and there are enough grown-up touches to ensure adults are happy, too. Opened in August 2021, the Legoland NY Hotel is just steps away from the theme park’s entrance, and its 250 rooms and suites are all styled in popular Lego themes, ranging from Lego Friends to Pirates, Kingdom, and Ninjago-themed rooms.
Every room has a separate alcove sleeping area for kids that sleeps up to three with bunk beds and a trundle bed situated in front of a TV and entertainment center stocked with Lego bricks for building. Another kid-friendly bonus: A Welcome Treasure hunt that’s easy enough for a preschooler to solve—think counting Lego pieces that decorate the room—and results in a combo for the in-room safe. Open it and find a mini-Lego kit to build and keep.
The decor caters to kids, but the beds at Legoland NY Hotel are seriously comfy.
While the light-up Lego swords situated over the king-sized bed in our Lego Ninjago room made me laugh—no Lego detail was seemingly overlooked—I did love sinking into its plush mattress and oversized pillows. The fact that I had my own TV and space to spread out while my daughter busied herself in the kids’ area was a welcome perk.
Beyond the rooms, Legoland NY Hotel is packed with amenities for families. We loved discovering the Lego models that doubled as decor in our own room and throughout the hotel. My daughter was thrilled watching the life-sized Mini-Figures whose faces changed expressions as we walked the halls. The lobby area holds a Lego Castle-themed play area, where the moat is filled with Lego bricks, not water. During our stay, kids romped long beyond bedtime, thanks in part, I’m sure, to the fact parents can comfortably supervise from the on-site bar nearby. Comfortable seating is plentiful, too!
Hit the arcade in the Legoland Hotel lobby for some post-theme park fun.
There’s a small arcade in the lobby, too, though with so few games and so much free fun nearby, it was easy to convince my daughter to leave after we’d exhausted her $10 game card. The on-site gift shop is a smaller version of the theme park’s BIG Shop, so you may want to set some ground rules before stepping foot inside. Character visits and nightly entertainment are all included in your stay.
Its seasonal outdoor pool has just opened for the summer and includes plenty of lounge chairs for mom and dad.
A hearty breakfast—included with your stay—fuels guests before they head over to the Legoland New York amusement park.
A pair of on-site restaurants ensure you never go hungry and every stay includes a complimentary buffet breakfast at Bricks Family Restaurant, which is a huge bonus if you’re planning to hit the theme park all day long!
Catch “brick fever” during a ride in the disco elevators at the Legoland NY Hotel.
Other features we loved at the Legoland NY Hotel: The contactless check-in kiosks upon arrival, which are conveniently located next to the wall-of-Mini-Figures displaying an eye-popping 5,304 Mini-Figures, and the complimentary luggage storage room, where we stowed our bags while we played in the Legoland theme park all day! The disco elevators had us dancing every time we visited our room.
If you’re looking to visit the hotel and theme park during your stay, reservations at Legoland NY Hotel start at $169 per person for a two-day stay and include tickets to the park. During the height of the summer season, an overnight stay also grants visitors access to the theme park an hour before opening. While the theme park is only open seasonally, you can book a stay at Legoland NY Hotel year-round, with deep discounts in the offseason, making a sleepover here a splurge-worthy gift for the Lego lover in your life.
