They say teaching is a calling and we believe that’s true for all teachers, but especially for Kindergarten teachers who are so foundational, starting little ones off on their educational journey. Their impact on their students can’t be overstated and clearly their love for the kids they teach goes on even after those students move on.
Perhaps that is why the TikTok of Kim Hamilton’s mom being surprised by her former students has been viewed almost 8 million times and counting.
Kim’s mother retired from teaching years ago, but the other day her former students left her stunned with an emotional surprise. As her daughter videoed, the last class of Mrs. Pearson’s graduating kindergarteners who are now graduating high school flooded into her yard in their caps and gowns. Mrs. Pearson hugs each one as she effuses, “Oh my gosh, I love you all. Oh my gosh, you’re all just gorgeous.”
In part 2 of Kim Hamilton’s TikTok she says
A huge thank you to everyone who has viewed, commented, shared, etc the original surprise video. Never in a million years did we expect the response. To clarify this is the last kindergarten class she taught who is now graduating high school and not all of the students were able to make it. The fact that the ones who did, arranged by Liz Hibshman, meant the world to us because she is so deserving of it. Mom taught in the same school in the same classroom her entire 38 years.
